Save Amador Theater

Amador Theater will not be available for rentals beginning next year without your help. The City of Pleasanton is planning to place Amador Theater into hibernation for one or two years (or longer?). If this happens, Jazz n Taps will not be able to have our annual Team Show and Recitals at Amador Theater.

Please consider doing something to help support this effort. You can call me (Jamie Renton) at 925-426-1582, email me at jcrinca@gmail.com, comment at this blog, or visit (and “like”) the Facebook page “Save Amador Theater”. Please encourage your friends to do the same. The more people who post on the blog and Facebook and “like” the Facebook page, the better chance we have of stopping the closure of Amador Theater to groups like Jazz n Taps.

  1. Hi Jamie - Great team show last night. I'm so proud of all of the girls.

When I first heard that our J&T recitals/shows wouldn't be at Amador next year I was really bummed. So I'm in total support of this effort. However, I guess I don't understand why this decision was made. Is it budget, renovations, we are trashing the place...???

  2. It would be a huge loss to have the Amador Theater be in hibernation. What can we do to prevent this?

  3. It would be a shame not to have Amador’s Theater in the future. I know the Firehouse Theater will be open soon, but the town has the talent and activities to support them both if done right. Let work out a plan to save it vs. just letting it go.

  4. The reason it is being placed into hibernation is because the city doesn't have the funds to staff both the new Firehouse Arts Center and the Amador Theater, so all of the staff from the Amador is going to the Firehouse.

We need to let the City staff and City Council know that we don't want it in hibernation. I believe the school district will still be able to use it, but it will not be available to commercially rent it.

  5. The Firehouse Arts Center was created out of the need for additional/different theater space in Pleasanton. Closing the Amador Theater would keep Pleasanton still in need of additional theater space and eliminate access to a venue with the number of seats the Amador provides. Why send our residents to neighboring cities when we have the facilities available to us here?
